How to wash a Swimming Binder?

A non-binary androgynous tomboy, transgender man wearing a black color of a bandage TOMSCOUT Swimming Chest Binder to fight body dysphoria and swimming in the pool, TOMSCOUT SAPPHIRE SWIMMING BINDER.

Hand wash and rinse your swimsuit

People are advised to wash their swimsuits themselves in cold water immediately after each wear. To wash away harmful chemicals such as chlorine and even bacteria before they can embed deeper into the fabric.

A simple rinse or taking them into a cold shower is better than nothing.

  • Avoid wrapping the swimsuit in a towel as it will hold in moisture and the chemicals will shorten the lifespan.
  • To expand the lifespan of the swimsuit, you may soak them in cool water for 30 minutes with a neutral detergent.
  • A gentle rinse does not cause shrinkage or color damage.

Squeeze out the water

Like washing and drying is too rough for fragile swimsuits and ruining the shape. Instead, gently roll them up and coax out most of the water as the fabric is made with soft and smooth nylon or spandex.

Air-Dry and Lay the swimsuit

Hang your swimsuit flat and dry in a spot out of direct sunlight. This prevents stretching fibers and the strong UV rays from the sun can both fade and damage the fibers. It also reduces the wrinkles of the swimsuit.

Store the swimsuit

Store the swimsuit flat at room temperature when it is completely dry, any moisture may result in the growth of mildew. You may store them in a fabric garment bag if you are putting them away for the season.

Steer clear of rough surfaces.

The SAPPHIRE is made with a soft and smooth nylon fabric as many swimsuits do. As with any soft clothing, rough or jagged edges will damage the surface of the fabric.

Be aware of where you lay, sit, or lean, as it is as easy as forgetting that these surfaces are rubbing up against the fabric and harming the once luxurious and smoothen SAPPHIRE texture you purchased.

  • Use a towel to prevent contact with the pool decks or mosaic and any other rough surfaces.
  • Sand and dirt are also abrasive, rinse your swimsuit immediately after use.

AVOID THESE DON'Ts:

  • Never use chlorine bleach to whiten or remove stains on swimsuits.
  • Never soak the swimsuit overnight as the fabrics will loosen and damage the fit and shape.
  • Never put the swimsuit in the dryer. The heat will immediately damage the fabric and weakens the elasticity of the spandex.
  • Avoid drying the swimsuit directly in the sun, this may cause color and elasticity damage.
  • Avoid hanging and drying the swimsuit directly on a metal rod. It might alter the shape of the garment while leaving a rust mark that’s impossible to remove.
  • Avoid sitting on rough surfaces, the concrete beside the pool or wood may snag the surface of the fabric. Always laying down with a towel in between.
