Robert Jones Jr. LGBT Authors and the Books They Have Released in 2021

Robert Jones Jr. is a Black, gay author from New York, NY. He has written for the New York Times, Essence, and The Paris Review and his writing frequently focuses on issues of social-justice. He is also the creator of the Son of Baldwin community.

2021 release: In 2021, Jones Jr. released The Prophets, a historical fiction novel about love between two enslaved men in the Southern, US during the time of slavery.

Chella Man, LGBT Authors and the Books They Have Released in 2021

Chella Man is an actor, model, artist, and LGBT activist. He identifies as transgender and genderqueer and also speaks open about being deaf and a Jewish person of color. Man also maintains an active YouTube channel.

2021 release: In 2021, Man has released Continuum, a short read that is part of Penguin Random House's Pocket Change Collective, a series of small books with big ideas from LGBTQIA+ activists and artists. In Continuum, Man shares his story of forging his own path and claiming his own space to be the most authentic version of himself. 

Krys Malcolm Belc, LGBT Authors and the Books They Have Released in 2021

Krys Malcolm Belc identifies as a nonbinary, transmasculine essayist, dad, teacher, and baker. Belc, a former elementary school teacher, left his teaching job to begin his MFA program and found himself writing fiction before he released his memoir this year.

2021 release: The Natural Mother of the Child: A Memoir of Nonbinary Parenthood is Belc’s 2021 memoir. As his son’s birth certificate lists himas “the natural mother of the child”, the memoir chronicles his experiences conceiving, giving birth to, and breastfeeding his child.

Randa Jarrar, LGBT Authors and the Books They Have Released in 2021

Randa Jarrar is a queer writer, performer, and translator. Her essays have been featured in The New York Times Magazine, Salon, and Buzzfeed. She identifies as Arab and grew up primarily in Kuwait and Egypt.

2021 release: Love Is an Ex-country is a fiction novel that tells the story of a fat, queer Muslim-Arab single monther as she drives the US from California to Connectiult. Along the way, she reflects on the legacy of the Southern US, childhood memories, and American culture.

A.E. Osworth is a transgender novelist, self-proclaimed nerd, and part-time faculty at The New School. Their work has been featured in Autostraddle, Guernica, Quartz, Electric Lit, Paper Darts, Mashable, and drDoctor.

2021 release: We Are Watching Eliza Bright is a novel taking place both in real life and online. It tells the story of programmer and game developer Eliza Bright as she deals with online harassment online via Reddit trolls who are angry at the stance she has taken against the misogyny that exists within the gaming community.
